Back in early 2023, to reposition Ladbrokes as an entertainment brand away from a pure play gambling brand, Ladbrokes joined forces with Powerleague to launch a new grassroots initiative. Ladbrokes Players Cup is a national five-a-side tournament, where teams compete to be crowned the best in the UK and win a £20,000 top prize from a total prize pot of over £100,000.
In partnership with TLC Worldwide, Cheeky was brought in to plan, design and develop the digital platform. Six months in the making, we conducted an extensive technical scoping and UX process to identify the most seamless way for the platform to allow users to register, select a location, invite their friends and set up a five a side team for their chosen tournament. Cheeky designed the site to ensure it was engaging and enjoyable to use and encouraged teams back to the site for post-match analysis, stats and video content provided to the players.
